The HatchCare Centre that we’re building for our customer Optibrut is a future-oriented ‘early feeding’ hatchery in Nordhorn (Germany). The design incorporates glass corridors that grant visitors insight into the hatchery’s working methods at any time. This means that guided tours do not interfere with the production process and – even more important – there’s open contact with external parties such as customers, social organisations and even action groups.
Optibrut’s Dutch manager wanted to have premises built in Germany, but had no experience with new build and preferred to work with a Dutch-speaking partner. An additional challenge is the current great concern for animal welfare and chain responsibility in the food industry. Optibrut wanted its building to be very transparent to communicate its aim of providing openness concerning its business processes.
Together with HatchTech, a partner in the poultry industry, we developed an entirely novel building concept: the HatchCare Centre – the first completely transparent hatchery in Europe. An affordable alternative to a traditional building thanks to the use of standard components.
Optibrut uses HatchTech’s ‘early feeding’ concept, a more animal-friendly hatching system. The building has tremendous PR value as a perfect example of the desired transparency in the food industry. Today’s consumers demand animal-friendly products, and this building helps Optibrut in its aim to present itself as an animal-friendly business while simultaneously boosting its turnover.
Bright Buildings is arranging all aspects of this project for the customer. Optibrut benefits from the design, organisation of the required permits, supervision of the construction and the project’s implementation by a Dutch partner with a lot of experience in international construction.
